Discover the South Harz on the Karst Hiking Trail
Over a distance of more than 200 km, the Karst Hiking Trail South Harz leads from Pölsfeld near Sangerhausen to Bad Grund through an area rich in gypsum rock.
Over the course of thousands of years, a gypsum karst landscape has developed in the South Harz, whose geological richness and biological diversity form a natural area unique in Europe.
The landscape extends across the districts of Osterode am Harz in Lower Saxony, Nordhausen in Thuringia and Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt. The route can be hiked via a northern or southern variant. Detailed information can be found at www.karstwanderweg.de.
