Cycling tours

A harmonious combination

In the foothills of the Harz, the hilly border areas and the wide valleys, you can enjoy bike tours that don’t require any top athletic performance. After a strong start on straight sections, you can roll on calmly and take the time to consciously experience the landscape.

Along the way, there are many opportunities to take breaks. Cultural and historical sights lie along the paths, which you can discover and visit during your ride. This way, you combine movement with insights into the region’s history and culture.

Bike tour in the northern foothills of the Harz

An approximately 70 kilometre long route takes you through the northern Harz foreland between Hornburg and Ilsenburg, following the rivers Ilse and Oker. The terrain is mostly flat and has only a few ascents.

You can easily take the train to get there. The stations in Ilsenburg, Vienenburg or Schladen are located along the route and are good starting points for your tour along the Green Belt.

At several junctions with the former inner-German border you’ll find information boards. They provide details about sights, special viewpoints, as well as typical plant and animal species of the region.
