Iberg-WeltWald Tour

The tour starts at the Health Center. From there it leads via Schurfbergstraße towards the Teufelstal Sports Park.

In the Teufelstal with a slight ascent to the Eisenstein tunnel (therapy for respiratory diseases) at the foot of the Iberg. Straight ahead on the left past the waterfall the short climb to the B 242. This (vehicle traffic!) and then the parking lot of the Cave Experience Center are crossed. At the end of the parking lot with a short ascent further into the Iberg. After about 100 m the path branches off to the left towards the former entrance of the Iberger dripstone cave. Past the dripstone cave via the "Adalbert-Bösche-Stieg" up to the former cave exit. From here the tour follows the wide paved forest road slightly uphill to the
"Schweinebraten". In the beech and mixed high forest of the Iberg, yews can still be found in places, from which the Iberg probably gets its name (Eibenberg – Ibenberg – Iberg). The hut at Schweinebraten with its rustic wooden tables and benches invites you to take a break. From Schweinebraten the tour continues on the forest road to the Spinne (meeting point of several paths); there turn left towards the Iberger Albertturm. Halfway to the Albertturm there is a newly created viewpoint into the Winterberg/Iberg limestone quarry. Information boards provide information about the formation of limestone in the Winterberg/Iberg massif, which originated from a coral reef in prehistoric times, about limestone mining and its use. The forest inn Iberger Albertturm with the eponymous observation tower invites you to take a rest. Depending on the point of view, the cabin is either the starting or ending point of the Harzer-Bauden-Steig. From the tower you can enjoy the view over the Harz foreland all the way to the Weser Uplands. From the Albertturm, the tour then goes down the Hippelweg to the B 242 and after crossing it to the Hübichenstein. According to legend, the realm of the dwarf king Hübich, the patron saint of the mining town Bad Grund, is located under the Hübichenstein. From the Hübichenstein, the tour follows the municipal connecting road for a short distance and after about 200 m opposite the small parking lot through the entrance portal into the WeltWald. Here follow the East America path level or with only a slight ascent to the mountain path and here right a short section downhill to the forest operation hut (rest area/seating group). There turn left over the Mammoth Tree path slightly uphill to the exit at the Hübichalm campsite. In the small restaurant at the Hübichalm campsite there is the possibility for a
refreshment. Opposite parking lot P1 at the Hübichalm (crossing the municipal connecting road) it goes into the upper part of the WeltWald. There immediately right downhill following the Hay path to the Horizontal path (König-Hübich route) down. On the Horizontal path right to the Kneipp facility and past the Kaiser spring into the upper Kelchtal. Arrived there turn left downhill following the forest road, which turns into the town street, the tour leads through the Kelchtal into the town center and back over the market square and Clausthaler Street to the Health Center.
