- Start: Health Center, Bad Grund
The signposted König-Hübich route follows the horizontal path along the ridges surrounding the mountain town around Bad Grund. The circular route described here is a slightly shortened variation of it.
Starting at the health center, it first goes above the Atrium over Eichelberg street and the public green area "Old Cemetery", past the memorial up to the Eichelberg pavilion and further to Eichhörnchenplatz. Once there, the route turns right onto a flat or slightly descending path to the Sonnenbadfelsen. Along the way, you encounter a closed tunnel entrance as a witness to mining. At the Sonnenbadfelsen, rustic wooden benches provide an opportunity for a short rest. From there, it continues down to the Eichelbach valley. After crossing the state road and the cycling-pedestrian path leading to Windhausen, you first walk on a path (roots!) and then on a forest path to the left, after a short distance turning right on a wider paved forest road uphill to the Knollen circular trail. The open Knollen shelter located there offers an opportunity for a breather. The route circles the Knollen to the right. The path leading off the Knollen circular trail after about 500 m to Abgunst (Hocheck) offers a view of the mountain town lying in the valley. After crossing the Abgunst, the path continues through the Grüne Tanne settlement northeast to Förstergasse. From the upper Förstergasse, turn immediately left and follow the gently ascending forest path to the upper Kelchtal. About halfway, there is a seat group offering an unobstructed view of the Bad Grund town center. This path meets the paved forest road of the upper Kelchtal, which the route follows for a short stretch and leads northward on the forest path (Horizontalweg / König-Hübich route) past the Kaiserquelle and Kneipp facility. In the Kneipp facility, fed with mountain spring water, one can treat oneself, especially their feet, to a refreshing, cooling break. The path continues on the horizontal path along the foot of the World Forest to the Hübichenstein, where an open-air play is performed annually on Walpurgis Night on April 30. From the Hübichenstein, the round goes down on the forest path in or at Violenberg to Hübichweg. At Hübichweg, the small Kessel spring, fed with natural water, invites you to cool your face and arms a bit (not drinking water), before heading back through Ratsweg and over Clausthaler Straße to the destination at the health center.
