Places along the Harz Monastery Trail

As varied as the monasteries are, so too are the places connected by the Harz Monastery Trail. On each stage, you’ll encounter traces of history and faith – set within a peaceful, impressive landscape. The path takes you through Goslar, Wernigerode, Quedlinburg and other towns where history remains visible and the present feels alive. Cobbled streets, baroque façades and green gardens invite you to pause for a moment. Between Romanesque churches, quiet monastery courtyards and historic buildings, you can feel the connection between culture, nature and spirituality. Every place along the monastery trail tells its own story – of royal power, monastic reflection and the close bond between people and their surroundings. Travelling here means experiencing not only a region, but also the spiritual heritage that continues to shape the character of the Harz today.
