Braunlage is located in the Upper Harz at an altitude between 600 and 971 metres above sea level. The climatic health resort connects the diverse landscapes of the Harz Nature and National Park and is one of the oldest winter sports resorts in Germany.
Hiking enthusiasts and mountain bikers will find numerous opportunities to explore the Harz around Braunlage. Themed and national park hikes such as the Nature Myths Trail and the Harz Witches’ Trail long-distance hiking route lead through varied natural landscapes. The mountain bike trail network of the Volksbank Arena Harz offers tours with different levels of difficulty.
A popular destination is the Wurmberg. The Wurmberg Cable Car takes you comfortably to the summit, where the mountain adventure world and a monster scooter rental are waiting for you. In the Bike Park Braunlage there are seven largely natural trails available. From the new observation tower built on the Wurmberg in 2019, you can enjoy views far across the Harz.
