Braunlage

In winter, Braunlage offers the highest and largest ski area on the Wurmberg in the Harz at 971 metres. Here, you can look forward to modern lifts – including a gondola lift, a chairlift, and several drag lifts – as well as slopes of various levels of difficulty.

In the town centre, the ski meadows by the town hall and on the Hasselkopf with drag lifts make it possible to attend ski schools and learn how to ski on gentler slopes. Cross-country skiers can choose from trails of different lengths, some of which are lit. Toboggan runs in town and on the Wurmberg also provide plenty of variety.

If you want to experience the winter landscape in a more relaxed way, you can take a walk along cleared paths, go snowshoe hiking to explore the surroundings, or enjoy a carriage ride through the snowy Harz. The ice stadium offers opportunities for ice skating and curling. At the Braunlage Local History and FIS Ski Museum, you can also learn how skiing came to the Harz and how Braunlage developed into a winter sports town.
