This easy hike leads through varied nature past the geological natural monument "Kupferschiefer Aufschluss" over Kupferberg. It continues along part of the Kaiserweg past the Itelteich. At the local Hexentanzplatz or Ellricher Blick (stamp 167), you can then get your stamp. From the witches, the path leads into the Himmelreich and then back to the starting point.

The starting point for this easy, well over 8 km long hike is at the intersection Wiedaer Straße – Harzstraße – Ellricher Straße. From here, the route begins on the street "Unter den Schießeichen" towards Eulenpark. From there, continue alongside the Wieda on the Magister-Eckstorm-Weg to the geological natural monument "Kupferschiefer Aufschluss". After passing this, continue along a part of the Kaiserweg to the Itelteich (still a cultural-historical and technical monument today). Then proceed to the Walkenried Hexentanzplatz or the Ellricher Blick. Under the viewpoint runs a railway tunnel, which played an important role during the time Germany was divided. It is said that some refugees hid here and tried to escape through the tunnel. To the east, there is a beautiful view of Ellrich and the surrounding area. Freshly strengthened and stamped (stamp 167), the route then leads from the Hexentanzplatz through the Himmelreich, to which the monks gave a Christian name as a counterpart to the pagan Hexentanzplatz, and back to the starting point via the hiking trail.

Coming from Bad Sachsa and Zorge, turn left onto the parking lot in Ellricher Straße.

Arrive by train from Nordhausen or Göttingen, then take bus 470 to "Vor der Aue". From there, walk to the intersection Ellricher Straße.

There are no opportunities to stop for refreshments along the way, so be sure to pack enough food and drinks.
We recommend visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Information Center and the Cistercian Museum in Walkenried.
