Keeping an eye on forest development in the Harz
In the Harz region, 13 photo spots currently invite you to closely observe the changes taking place in the forest. The aim is to make the development of the forests and their climate-related changes visible over a longer period of time. In the medium term, the changes in forest development are to be documented in this way. The photo spots, designed as information boards, were set up by the Harz National Park, the Lower Saxony State Forests, the Harz Hiking Badge and the State Forestry Enterprise of Saxony-Anhalt, and financed by the Harz Tourism Association.
Each of the boards has an opening that focuses attention on a section of the landscape where the climate-related changes in the forest are particularly visible. Interested visitors are encouraged to take photos through the opening and post them on the social media platform Instagram using the hashtag #derwaldruft.
The resulting “photo series” allows people to visually track plant growth and natural dynamics over the coming years, even for guests who don’t visit the region regularly.
